This was a Bharat Sundaresan story. It may have been his idea but a bad desk guy would have killed the story with a drab headline. Hence, the importance of talented guys at the desk.
Personally, my experience has been bad, lately. In the newspapers I worked, I found the quality of desk deteriorate year after year. However, on portals now one often finds creative people who give good headlines too.
