Police officer beats elderly man in UP's Pratapgarh for no reason, condemnation pours in

The photograph of SP Shagun Gautam, hitting an elderly man, with a lathi, for no reason, has gone viral on internet.

Upset, citizens have written to UP DGP, CM, top authorities to take cognisance of the police officer's actions.

But the question is that what gets into law-enforcers that they suddenly turn into law-breakers.

You need to protect people and here a hapless elderly man---almost age of officer's father, is being hit with a baton. At this age, what an injury or such blow can do to a frail body.

Doesn't the officer know? On civic bodies' polling day, he went out and began hitting people with baton--was it just to create a 'dabang' image. Newspaper reports tell the old man had to be taken to hospital.

This incident occurred in Pratapgarh in UP. But it leaves disturbing questions. What youngsters have in mind, when they study in schools and later prepare for competitive exams. How the 'highly educated', who crack UPSC, turn into such law-breakers?

We such barbarity all over India. The recent Ryan School murder case again showed how Haryana top cops framed an innocent conductor [who was tortured, given shocks], but CBI probe revealed that killer was a teenaged student.

So why 'educated' cops do such things? This is a real mystery about the society. It is very saddening indeed. We all must reflect on the situation. This brute display of power, has to be stopped.
